Josh Taylor
Logistics Manager, Pace Chattanooga
5+ years with Pace
Josh was selected as Pace’s July Culture Warrior for displaying our core values in all that he does.
Earlier this year, Josh and his family were faced with an unexpected tragedy when Josh’s sister passed away in an accident leaving behind her two young children. There is no doubt that this was inexplicably difficult for Josh and his family, but despite the circumstances, Josh maintained a positive and hopeful outlook. He has been persistent in ensuring the family stayed together and is working tirelessly to gain guardianship of the two young children. In the face of great hardship and struggle, Josh maintained his character, integrity, and commitment to his family. The process of gaining custody is not an easy one, but he isn’t giving up. He is working diligently to ensure that his family will always be safely together. Josh showed that doing the right thing isn’t just something that he says or portrays because he is a Pace team member. He demonstrated that our values are who he is as a person. Through his actions, he showed he was committed to serving relentlessly, doing the right thing, getting the job done, doing what he said, and always improving. During this time of hardship for his family, Josh never let his commitment to Pace falter despite the many hurdles he was facing personally. He continued to report for work each day, serve our customers, and get the job done. This is not an easy thing to do considering the added responsibilities he took on. Josh is a true representation of Pace’s core values both in the workplace and in his personal life, which is a testament to who he is as a person.
We sat down with Josh to learn more about Pace’s July Culture Warrior.
Briefly describe your typical day at Pace.
My day starts around 11 PM each night when we start to receive our first loads of freight. My day is typically complete around 8 AM. During that time I manage over 25 routes out of the Chattanooga location. Once I get home around 10 AM each day, I field calls and emails until about 5 PM.

What values are important to you?
All of our core values are important to me. Our values are why I work for Pace. I believe that if we stay true to our core values, then we can’t fail as a company. “Do the Right Thing” is the one I like most. I am not perfect, but I always do my best to try and DO The Right Thing – no matter what.

Being able to treat my market like it is my own business each day inspires me to always do my best.
What do you do when you’re not at the office?
When I am not at work these days, 99% of the time I am either sleeping or spending time with my kids.
Anything else you would like to share?
I want to emphasize that I could not have gotten through this time without the support of the Pace Family. My team stepped up to help take care of some of my duties while I was away and spending time with my family. Thank you to Kenneth Bates, Kenneth Morrison, Tony McKinney, Michael Horton, and Jeff Fuqua for all of your support! Thank you to all of the team members from the corporate office who also showed us support during this time. So many of you sent flowers, and my family was very thankful for this show of support.
Pace’s Culture Warrior Initiative is dedicated to helping the Pace Team live and breathe our core values daily.
