Pace continues to grow its operations in Atlanta, Georgia. Our location just west of the I-285 perimeter highway corridor on the westside of Atlanta is strategically located less than a mile from Interstate 20 access. This location efficiently provides final mile services to multiple customers in metro Atlanta and facilitates inbound and outbound freight movements for the Atlanta market.
The 70,000 square foot warehouse has fourteen dock doors from which Pace provides pool distribution, cross-dock, and warehousing services. Additionally, in this market, we service several e-commerce companies out of our customers’ facilities as well as scheduled, routed, small-vehicle courier services.
The Atlanta metropolitan area is home to a population of more than six million people and is the ninth largest metropolitan area in the country. Originally named Terminus because it was founded in the mid-1800’s as the terminus of a major state-sponsored railroad, its name was eventually changed to Atlanta, as it was a major hub for the Western and Atlantic Railroad. The city was almost entirely burned to the ground during the Civil War but quickly rebuilt itself and became a national center of commerce.
Atlanta became a center for the Civil Rights Movement during the 1950’s and 1960’s, with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Ralph David Abernathy – both citizens of Atlanta – playing leadership roles in the movement. Atlanta has since grown its roots as a transportation hub with the emergence of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport – the world’s busiest passenger airport for the last twenty years.
Atlanta was home to the 1996 Summer Olympic Games and is the global headquarters for The Coca-Cola Company, The Home Depot, Delta Air Lines, and UPS. Culturally, Atlanta offers an abundance of performing arts, including the Atlanta Opera, Atlanta Ballet, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and the Alliance Theater. Major professional sporting franchises in Atlanta include the MLB Atlanta Braves, the NFL Atlanta Falcons, The MLS Atlanta United, and the NBA Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta is home to several nationally renowned educational institutions, such as Emory University, Georgia State University, the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), and The Atlanta University Center – the largest contiguous consortium of historically black colleges in the nation, comprised of Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Morehouse School of Medicine.
