Brother Bryan Mission seeks to minister to the economically, emotionally, and spiritually impoverished men in the central Alabama area. In 2020, the mission began plans to expand its capacity to serve over 100 residents.
Brother Bryan Mission’s goal is for each client to return to his family, church, and community after completing the program free from addiction with stable employment and housing and with healthy relationships toward God and others. They do this by offering two residential programs:
- The New Life Fellowship Program is a nine-month Christian recovery program designed to address the issues that cause homelessness and the barriers that hinder one from returning to a productive life.
- The Exodus Program is a back-to-work program for men who already have jobs. A man can stay up to two years in the Exodus Program.
Pace has partnered with Brother Bryan Mission over recent years by providing financial contributions to support general operating expenses. Pace Team Members have also enjoyed volunteering our time by participating in educational sessions as well as by serving meals to the residents and other homeless members of the community. In 2020, despite the limitations in place due to COVID-19, our team enjoyed assembling care packages and motivational messages for residents of the mission. We are proud to partner with an organization that has such a life-changing impact on so many individuals in our community.
2020 has been a year of growth and opportunity for the mission. In late 2020, BBM purchased an additional building on the same block in downtown Birmingham as their existing buildings. They will soon begin the process of stabilizing and remodeling this new building. After its completion, Brother Bryan Mission will expand its residential programs by adding twenty-eight beds, increasing its total housing capacity to over 100 residents.
We are excited to see the life-changing work of Brother Bryan Mission to improve the lives of homeless men in Birmingham. We celebrate its expansion and the growth of its programs – and the additional lives Brother Bryan Mission will impact as a result.
