Pace is proud to name another Culture Warrior of the Month, Kelly Johnson! Kelly is a Logistics Supervisor for Pace’s Dothan, Alabama operations. Kelly was nominated for exhibiting Pace’s values, in particular, his ability to Get the Job Done.
Kelly stands out for his commitment to Pace’s values
Kelly is described as a true warrior. He makes sure safety training is completed by the drivers. He ensures all freight is loaded correctly and secured for each route. Kelly is vigilant. Every I is dotted, and every T is crossed.
Not only is Kelly committed to getting the job done, but he also makes sure it is done correctly. Kelly’s attention to detail demonstrates his passion for Doing the Right Thing. He pushes his team to do better and improve their performance, leaning on Pace’s value to Always Improve. With a Relentless Servant Spirit, Kelly leads his team to success each night. The role he plays in ensuring pieces come together for a successful operation allows Pace to keep our commitment to Do What You Say. Kelly plays a vital role in demonstrating our values to our customers.
Kelly and the team in Dothan became a part of the Pace Team in 2019. In just a year’s time, Kelly has fully grasped Pace’s Core Values and exhibits them daily. For some, transitions to a new culture can be difficult, but this wasn’t the case for Kelly and the Dothan team. Pace’s values came naturally to Kelly because of his character, and he continues to exemplify them in all that he does.
It’s team members like Kelly who keep Pace’s wheels turning. Pace is fortunate to have Kelly as a member of the Pace Team, and we are proud to name him Culture Warrior of the Month!
Keeping Pace sat down with Kelly to learn more about our latest Culture Warrior of the Month.
Briefly describe your typical day at Pace. I arrive at the warehouse at 10:00 PM each night. I usually stay until after the morning conference call at 7:00 AM, at which time I tie in with Terri on all issues that happened during the night and could possibly come up thru mid-morning. After a short rest, I come back around 1:00 PM to catch up on emails and whatever else needs to be addressed. That’s the extent of my day.
What’s your favorite part about working for Pace? I get to work with my wife plus all the drivers. It’s not like a job! Everyone gets along great.
What values are important to you? Transparency, honesty, and good moral character are all the traits that are important to me.
Which Core Value is your favorite? And why? Well, they all are because I try to practice all five of them every night. But, if I had to pick one, it would to be to always Do the Right Thing.
In your opinion, what makes Pace’s culture unique? Everybody in administration always seems to be willing to help. I can always call them and not feel that I am “bothering” anyone (especially my District Manager, Steve Robertson).
What is one of your proudest moments while working at Pace? Being picked for Culture Warrior! I am extremely proud of the way I have the warehouse running so smoothly. Managers from other locations come in and tell me this is one of the best warehouses they have been to, and to me that is a good reflection on Pace in general.
What inspires you? Being able to look back on my day and feel that I have made a difference in some way.
What do you when you’re not at the office? Our son is in the military in Oklahoma City, so Terri and I get out and ride to different areas in our part of the country and just enjoy being together.
Thank you, Kelly, for being a core member of the Pace Team! Congratulations on your achievement!
