Carrier Relations and Pricing Manager

Pace is looking for a Carrier Relations and Pricing Manager for our corporate office in Bessemer, AL.

Position Overview

The Carrier Relations and Pricing department was created to advance Standardization, Consistency and Engagement between PACE and its Vendor Partners (Carriers). Position responsibilities will include but not limited to, communicating daily with our freight partners, monitoring partner activities relevant to performance, processing and building various reports that support the department’s efforts and progress. 

 

Job Duties

  • Assist in optimizing and planning the partner/vendor network 
  • Respond to Carrier Partners needs and requests via e mail, phone, or in person
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and improve strong customer relationships with Carrier Partners 
  • Collect and monitor specific activities to assess trends and opportunities, as they relate to the Partner’s operational performance, providing constructive feedback and recommendations  
  • Communicate Partner concerns with Operations Management and Corporate Leadership regarding improvement opportunities and/or progress.
  • Coach, champion, and lead improvement projects for a market or region
  • Assimilate and organize information from various support departments
  • Assist and follow through with the on-boarding process of new and potential Partners   
  • Create Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and data bases for internal and external use
  • Review Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and other Metrics to assess and understand the effectiveness of new partnerships and the projected benefit of said relationships
  • Work with multiple routing software platforms to identify, and create efficiencies

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Vocational Certification in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Marketing, or related Field 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, requests for proposals, procedural manuals, and Partner agreements 
  • Ability to speak effectively before small and large groups – from warehouse associates to the leaders and decision makers of other companies. 
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.   
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations 
  • Ability to apply statistical techniques to shipment and delivery data, as well as budget projections, P&L’s, and Project costing.  
  • Ability to solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 
  • Some travel required (up to 25%)

The Entry Level Operations Support Specialist position provides key support to our operation team. Job Duties:

Job Duties

  • Conduct routine log audits, driver qualification file and personnel file audits, routine DOT violation audits
  • Organize and carry out routine driver training and new driver orientation
  • Operate the drug and alcohol program
  • Engage in driver intervention, incentive promotion, evaluations and/or discipline
  • Oversee routine freight agent and independent contractor audits addressing specific Pace assigned metrics
  • Address and respond to accidents and manage property damage
  • Handle recruiting tasks as requested
  • Process OSHA and General Safety Assessments as requested
  • Manage workers’ compensation issues as requested
  • Administer Pace, DOT and insurance requirements for independent contractor system acceptance
  • Process and manage CMS, Xcelerator and CXT data

Job Requirements
